Today’s humans can build heavy structures with the help of science, technology and engineering. Humans of the 21st century are successful in building heavy skyscrapers in our world.

Humans built buildings for various purposes. These skyscrapers are built for multi-purposes like offices residentials, hotels, etc. In our world, there are many tallest buildings built till now. In this article, we have listed 10 of the tallest buildings in the world.

10. Taipei 101

Taipei 101 is the supertall skyscraper formerly known as Taipei World Financial Center which is designed by C.Y Lee and C.P Wang. This skyscraper building is located in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan.

The construction of this super tall building started on 31st July in 1999 and the construction was completed on 31st December 2004.

It was the tallest building in the world until the complete construction of Burj Khalifa in 2010. The total height of Taipei 101 is 509.2 m (1,671 ft).

There are 101 floors in this skyscraper. The total floor area is 412,500 m2. The architectural style of this supertall building is Postmodernism.

The total cost of construction of this building was NT$ 58 billion (US$ 1.895 billion). The owner of Taipei 101 is Taipei Financial Center Corporation.

Taipei 101 became the tallest and largest green building in the world in 2011 under the LEED certification system.

9. China Zun

China Zun 9th tallest building of the world

CITIC Tower is the supertall skyscraper commonly known as China Zun which is located in the Z15 plot, Guanghua Road, Beijing CBD, Chaoyang District, Beijing, China.

The construction of this building was started on 19th September 2011 and completed in 2018.

This is the tallest building in Beijing city which surpassed the China World Trade Center Tower III on 18th August 2015. China Zun was constructed in Modern Architectural style and the total height of this supertall building is 527.7 m (1,731 ft).

This building has more than 8 floors below the ground and has a total of 109 floors. The total floor area of this building is 427,000 m2.

CITIC Tower is an architect by TFP Farrells, KPF and BIAD and developed by CITIC Real Estate. The structural engineer of this building is by Arup.

This mixed-use building has 60 floors for office, 20 floors for luxury apartments and has been used 20 floors for a hotel with 300 rooms. 

8. Tianjin CTF Finance Center

Tianjin CTF Finance Center is also the supertall skyscraper which is located in Binhai New Area, Tianjin, China.

It is currently the 8th tallest building in the world and the second tallest building in Tianjin after Goldin Finance 117 which is not completed yet.

The construction of this building was started in 2011 and completed in 2019. This supertall building is used in various ways like as a Hotel serviced, apartments and offices. 

Tianjin CTF Finance Center is architected by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP in collaboration with Ronald Lu & Partners.

The developer of this skyscraper is New World Development and the main contractor is China Construction 8th Engineering Division.

The total height of this building is 530 m (1,740 ft) with a floor area of 252,11 m2 and the total floor in this building is 97. There are a total of 81 lifts used in this skyscraper for the movement from top to bottom of the building.

7. Guangzhou CTF Finance Center

Guangzhou CTF Finance Center is a supertall skyscraper also known as East Tower which is located in Zhujiang East Road, Zhujiang New Town, Tianhe District, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China.

The construction of this building started on 29th September 2009 and the building was opened in October 2016.

This is the tallest building in Guangzhou, the third tallest in China and the seventh tallest building in the world. This supertall beautiful building is an architect by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by New World Development.

The main contractor of this building is China State Construction Engineering. The total height of this building is 530 m (1,739 ft).

There are a total of 111 floors among which 5 are underground in an area of  507,681.0 m2. The owner of this supertall building is Chow Tai Fook Enterprises.

There are 95 elevators used in this building for the movement. The rooms of this building are used for various purposes. 355 rooms of this building are used as apartments and 251 rooms are used as Hotel rooms.

6. One World Trade Center

One World Trade Center is a rebuilt building of the World Trade Center Complex which was destroyed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 (also known as the 9/11 attacks).

This building is also known as Freedom Tower.

This supertall building is located at 285 Fulton Street Manhattan, New York, US. One World Trade Center is the tallest building in America and the 6th tallest building in the world.

The construction of this building started on April 27, 2006, and completed on May 10, 2013.

5. Lotte World Tower

Lotte World Tower is a supertall skyscraper also known as Two Lotte World Tower which is located in Seoul, South Korea.

The construction of this supertall building was started on February 1, 2011, after 13 years of planning and site preparation and was completed on 22nd December 2016.

It was publicly opened on 11th April 2017. This is the tallest building in South Korea and the fifth world’s tallest building.

The architect of this supertall building is Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Lotte Engineering and Construction. The total height of this building is 556 m (1,824 ft).

There are a total of 129 floors in this building among them 123 are above ground and 6 are below the ground.

The total floor area of this building is 304,081 m2. This building is used for various purposes. Among many floors, some of the top floors are used as Observation decks and other floors are used as a private office, hotel, Residence, prime office, podium, lobby etc.

4. Ping An Finance Center

Ping An Finance Center is a supertall Chinese skyscraper which is located at No.5033 Yitian Road, Futian District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

The construction of this building was started in 2010 and completed in 2017 in the estimated cost of $1.5 billion.

It is the tallest building in Shenzhen and the second tallest building in China and 4th tallest building in the world. It also has the highest observation deck in a building.

The total height of this building is 599.1 m and the architect of this building is done by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates. The developer of the building is Ping An Life Insurance Company of China.

The main contractor of this building is done by China Construction First Building Group. There are a total of 120 floors in this building and among them, 115 are above the ground and 5 floors underground.

The total floor area of this building is 385,918 m2. The owner of this building is Ping An Life Insurance Company of China.

3. Abraj Al-Bait Clock Tower

Abraj Al-Bait Clock Tower is also a supertall government-owned skyscraper which is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The construction of this building was started in 2004 and completed in 2012.

This building has the largest clock face in the world and is the third tallest building in the world. This building is a few meters away from the largest mosque in the world.

This building is an architect by SL Rasch GmbH and Dar Al- Hadassah. The total height of this building is 601 m (1,972 ft). This building has a total of 120 floors and the floor area is 310,638 m2.

This building also contains the Clock Tower Museum. The building is made from Postmodern and New Classical architectural styles.

The main contractor of this building is the Saudi Binladin Group. There are 96 elevators used in this clock tower for the movement. This is constructed for mixed-used purposes.

This is the tallest building in China and 2nd tallest building in the world. Construction of this building was started on 21st November 2008 and it was completed on 2nd February 2015.

This building also shares the record of the highest observation deck in the world along with Ping An Finance Center. The height of this supertall building is 632 m (2,073 ft).

The Architect of this building is done by Jun Xia. and the engineering consultant is given by Thornton Tomasetti and Cosentini Associates. The main contractor of this building is the Shanghai Construction Group.

The construction cost of this building is CN¥15.7 billion. There are a total of 133 floors in this building among them 130 are above ground and 3 are underground.

The floor area of this building is 380,000 m2. The owner of this building is Shanghai Tower Construction and Development.

Burj Khalifa is the supermassive and tallest skyscraper which is located at 1 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world and it also broke numerous height records. The construction of this building was started on 6th January 2004 and the construction of this building was finished on 1st October 2009.

The building opened for the first time on 4th January 2010. Burj Khalifa is designed in Neo-futurism architectural style. The total height of this building is 827.8 m (2,722 ft).

This building is architected by Adrian Smith and Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The Structural engineer of this building is Bill Baker.

There are 163 floors in this building. The floor area of this building is about 309,473 m2. The main contractor of this building is Samsung C&T.

The owner of Burj Khalifa is Emaar Properties. There are 57 lifts used in this building for the movement from top to bottom.
